BBC News journalist Ian Wafula is set to leave the international media house after nearly two years.
Wafula's departure was revealed to his colleagues on Wednesday, January 29 via email.
According to the communication, the journalist will be leaving the media organisation to pursue other things in his career. His next move was not disclosed.
Wafula, who has been serving as the Africa Security Correspondent is expected to officially leave the media organisation in mid-February.
"Ian has been an integral part of the Africa Content Hub and has made his mark reporting the big security stories across the continent," read the communication in part.
"These include exclusive reports on the deployment of Kenyan Police officers in Haiti, The Sudan Conflict, The Ethiopia-Somalia row, Insurgency in Mozambique and the Mozambique Post Election Crisis."
Wafula joined BBC News in October 2023 and was tasked with covering conflict and security issues in the continent.
Before joining BBC News, he worked at BBC between August 2018 and September 2022.
Other media stations where he has worked include K24 and the Kenya Television Network (KTN).
