Czars went missing after releasing a viral hit dubbed 'Amka Ukatike'.

Cases of persons going missing in the country and never to be found have been on the rise over the past few years. 

These cases have left families emotionally broken down and financially drained as some have spent lots of money chasing leads on the whereabouts of their kin. 

In this article, we outline 5 Kenyans who went missing and had not been found by October 2023:

Czars

Mohammed Abdulkarim popularly known as Czars went missing in October 2006 aged 17. He went missing after releasing a viral hit dubbed 'Amka Ukatike'.

Back then, he was still a high school student with a bright future owing to his amazing musical skills. Media reports indicate that Czars left home one day and never returned. His family have searched for him to no avail. As of October 2023, it is 17 years since he went missing.

In February 2023, Kenyan investigative journalist John Allan Namu was challenged by a netizen to look into the case and promised that he and his team would investigate the matter.

Mwenda Mbijiwe

Mbijiwe went missing on 12 June 2021. The former Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) officer served as a security expert and often appeared on TV to give commentary on security matters. 

According to his family, Mbijiwe went missing when he was travelling from Nairobi to Meru. Investigators found his car abandoned at Kamiti Corner, while his last phone signal was traced to Thika town in Kiambu County.

Dafton Mwitiki

Dafton Mwitiki a businessman based in Nairobi went missing on 11 March 2020. Not much was known about him until he was photographed outside Dusit D2 with politician Steve Mbogo. 

The two were photographed carrying guns and dressed in protective gear during the attack. Media reports indicate that on the day of his disappearance, Mwitiki was in a hurry to close a business deal. Unfortunately, he left the house and never returned.

Irene Gakwa

She went missing in Wyoming in the United States of America. According to her family, Irene called them daily, but the calls stopped on February 24.

They tried reaching out to her to establish why she was not communicating, but their efforts were futile. The family filed a missing persons report on March 20. Investigations have been ongoing, but her whereabouts are still unknown.

Bogonko Bosire

He went missing in September 2021 shortly after the attack on Westgate Mall in Nairobi.

At the time of his disappearance, Bogonko a renowned journalist had established a blog dubbed Jackal News blog. Reports indicate that Bogonko had expressed fear for his life due to a story he was working on.
