Over the recent years, a number of popular Kenyans have been spotted wearing watches that have sparked conversations among members of the public.

Nairobileo.co.ke looks at some of the Kenyan personalities who have been spotted wearing very expensive watches.

President Uhuru Kenyatta

The Head of State is known for his taste for expensive watches. A majority of them, the ordinary Kenyan can only admire online.

According to a report by the Standard in 2018, President Kenyatta owns the Audemars Piguet Royal Oak which costs in excess of Ksh3.8 million.

He also reportedly owns a Patek Philippe Aquanaut Collection timepiece which is worth Ksh3.3 million along with the Arnold & Son HM Perpetual Moon which costs Ksh3.2 million.

Other watches owned by the head of state include; Rolex Oyster Perpetual (Ksh529,200), Rolex Submariner Green Bezel (Ksh855,000), and the Rolex submariner (Ksh850,000).

Governor Hassan Joho

Mombasa Governor Ali Hassan Joho is not afraid to spend his millions. He is among the wealthiest individuals in the country and owns a range of properties.

On July 20, 2019, he was the nationwide topic of discussion after he was spotted wearing a Richard Mille Felipe Massa Flyback Chronograph. 

According to online sources, the high-tech watch, which was a collaboration between Richard Mille and Felipe Massa brands, costs £179,995 exclusive of custom duty charges. The amount translated to Ksh23,224,754.85 at the time.

Kenyans were left wondering how a person could spend such amounts of money on a watch.

In September 2017, he was also seen rocking a Hublot Bigbang Rosegold. The watch costs nothing less than Ksh2.1 million.

Deputy President William Ruto

DP Ruto is among the richest people in Kenya and his dressing code over the last few years has been spot on.


According to reports, the DP owns a Hublot Big Bang watch which goes for around Ksh2.6 million. 

Prof. George Wajackoyah

Lawyer George Wajackoyah is known for his flashy lifestyle. He owns one of the most expensive time pieces in the country.

While appearing in a past panel on KTN, he took off his watch and revealed that the timepiece was worth Ksh1.2 million.

“Ask how I got it? I saved. I was practicing law in the UK (United Kingdom) and I saved. And because I could afford it, I can actually account for how I got that watch. It’s Ksh1.2m, it’s my lifestyle,” he said.

Steve Mbogo

The former Starehe Member of Parliament is a wealthy man, and has been known to throw some of his money aroung for expensive accessories.

He reportedly owns an Audemars Piguet watch that is worth more than Ksh3 million. He is also said to have bought his wife a watch worth Ksh200,000.

Jeff Koinange

The veteran Citizen TV News Anchor and Journalist has a knack for expensive things.

 

Koinange owns a lavish Breitling for Bentley watch and it allegedly possesses a strap made of crocodile skin.

According to online sources, the watch’s price starts from Ksh1 million.

Jalang’o

The media personality has grown to make a name for himself in the Kenyan entertainment industry, and has stacked up riches in the process.

Jalang’o does not shy away from sharing details of some of his possessions with the public, and he has in the past stated that he owns an Audemars Piguet watch worth Ksh1.3 million.

KCB CEO Joshua Oigara

Kenya Commercial Bank (KCB) Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Joshua Oigara is among the highest paid CEOs in Kenya.

According to reports, Oigara owns a Ksh1 million watch.

Vera Sidika

Socialite Vera Sidika is a wealthy lady and is not shy of spending millions of shillings on accessories and other properties.


A while back, she shocked netizens after posting images of a watch she wore, alleging it set her back Ksh2.5 million.

Jamal Gadaffi

In a 2018, interview with the Standard, the media personality revealed that the most expensive accessory he owned was a Hublot Watch.

“My Hublot watch that went for Ksh250, 000. It was a present from my brother Joho after I won the Best Dressed Media Personality award last year,” Jamal stated.
