World best teacher Peter Tabichi has won another prestigious global award.
Last year, Tabichi was awarded, Sh100 million after emerging as the world's best teacher in a ceremony held in Dubai.
The Nakuru based teacher was named this year Ahimsa Award winner by the Trustees of the Institute of Jainology based in London.
Tabichi received the award for his efforts in improving school attendance across the country.
Additionally, the teacher was feted for reducing levels of local violence and even teaching local communities how to grow crops that are drought resistant. 4
According to the institute, Tabichi's work personified peace, love, and compassion for both his students and his community as well as represented the message of Ahimsa.
"That Jainology is all about non-violence and compassion, is very dear to my heart as a religious man," Tabichi said while acknowledging the award.
The janiology is made up of organizations in government and inter-religious affairs. It seeks to promote the principles of Jainism.
After winning his award last year, Tabichi has retained his job as a teacher. Tabichi is a maths and physics teacher from Pwani village in Nakuru county.
He also embarked on a global tour, even meeting current U.S President Donald Trump at the White House.
The award came just days after Tabichi was appointed to the Heroes Council by Sports CS Amina Mohamed.
Chief Justice David Maraga, who presided over the swearing-in, called on the members to discharge their mandates with utmost fidelity saying only those who serve selflessly and contribute immensely to the country's welfare in their respective fields deserve an award.
