The Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) is running after a top official in the Ministry of Roads and Transport accused of using fake academic certificates to get employment in government.
According to the anti-graft body, 'Engineer' Kenneth Kamumbu Mugo used a doctorate degree from the University of Nairobi to gain employment both in the Kiambu county and the national government.
The EACC addressed a letter to the Ministry seeking the suspension of Mugo from his current post.
The suspect worked as Superintendent Engineer of Roads, at the State Department of Roads.
He is suspected of having forged his Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering purporting it to be issued by the University of Nairobi in 2006.

"Using the fake degree, he secured his initial employment as the Director of Roads and Transport at Kiambu County Government and later allegedly transferred his public services to the National Government, Ministry of Roads," the EACC said.
Mugo resigned from the Kiambu county executive in 2018 following the EACC's expose but was later employed by the Ministry of Roads in 2020.
