Pastor Dorcas Gachagua was overwhelmed by emotions and forced to shed tears while narrating the harrowing experience of widows.
While addressing the clergy on Thursday, February 29, the Second Lady pointed out that she was saddened by the stories of widows selling their bodies in order to fend for their family needs.
She at some point paused to wipe her tears with a handkerchief while stating that the widow did not have to endure all that.
Pastor Dorcas revealed that the widow is from Migori County and resolved to engage in that unaccepted activity to support her family as she was the sole breadwinner.

"I went to Migori and a widow there was selling her body so that she can be able to raise her child. And we still talk about religion! It is very bad and that is why I have been looking for ways through which we can be able to help our women," she stated while wiping her tears.
"Just ask yourself, what if it was your mother doing that to raise your school fees? As a Church, together with Muslims, come up with plans to uplift our women so that they can help their children," she added.
Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua's wife wondered why local church leaders were not helping such widows. During the interfaith meeting which was held in Kilifi County, Pastor Dorcas implored the clergy to take up the leading role in helping the widows in their various communities.
At the same time, she condemned the killing of elderly people considered witches. She urged the religious leaders to educate the people to avoid that vice.
"I shared my concerns over reports of the killing of the elderly, who have grey hair, by their children under the false accusation of them being labelled as witches. The youth are not only breaking the law of the Lord, but the commandments of God by doing this," her statement read in part.
