Meru Deputy Speaker Mwenda Ali has been airlifted for specialised treatment after narrowly escaping from a grisly road accident at Riagacici area along the Meru-Embu-Nairobi Highway in Embu County.
The politician has been transferred to Karen Hospital where is receiving specialised treatment. Unfortunately, the politician lost her daughter following the tragic accident along that busy highway.
The tragic crash occurred when his Subaru Legacy collided head-on with another double cabin at Kivwe in Embu County.

Immediately after the collision, his vehicle burst into flames. Reports indicate that the politician's daughter died instantly after the accident.
Other people on board were Mwendwa, his driver Michael Mwongera, and another two-year-old girl.
They were left with serious injuries and rushed to a nearby hospital. However, after assessing the Meru Deputy Speaker's condition he was airlifted for specialised treatment.
"At Riagacici area it happened that one Patrick Gitonga aged 47 years was driving his M/V reg. KCZ 751R Toyota double cab from Embu General direction towards Meru and on reaching the location of the accident left his proper lane hitting an incoming Subaru Forester KCX290M head on which was being driven by Michael Mwongera, 35 years old," a police statement read in part.
The family was allegedly visiting Mwendwa's wife who was admitted at a hospital in Nairobi before the fatal crash.
Police have since launched investigations into the accident.
