Lands Cabinet Secretary Alice Wahome has called on school principals, headteachers and communities to report instances of land grabbing.
Speaking on Friday, January 31, the CS urged those aware of any school land that has been illegally taken to gather the necessary documents and bring them to her attention.
Wahome promised to set up teams in the affected regions to help schools and communities reclaim the land from grabbers.
“I want to call upon every Principal; every headteacher; every community that knows their school land has been grabbed to ensure they put documents together and bring them to my attention so that we put teams together in different regions to return back the public property,” she said.

This comes two months after Wahome revealed action that the government had taken in connection with the theft of 367 land title documents from the government printer.
Speaking at the Senate on November 20, 2024, the CS said one person had been arrested, adding that the police were still investigating the government employee to establish his accomplices.
Wahome also stated that land officials were on the lookout for the serial numbers of the stolen documents, noting that should any of the stolen documents be presented in any land registry in the country, arrests would be made.
"I want to assure Kenyans that these particular serial numbers are known and we do not see a threat to it. We have put additional security features on the titles and therefore, it is not possible to have them printed elsewhere. The security features are specific to counties and registries," she said.
