Protestors have stormed the Parliament buildings in Nairobi.

The anti-finance Bill 2024 protestors have stormed the Parliament buildings in Nairobi and set a section of it on fire.

This is despite the police officers shooting several protestors dead while they were attempting to gain access to the Parliament buildings.

In a video scene by nairobileo.co.ke, smoke was seen billowing from the Parliament buildings. The protestors also uprooted the national flag within Parliament precincts.

Others went inside the offices and destroyed properties and the windows.

Members of Parliament sought refuge in the basement parking of Parliament as police officers kept guard awaiting backup and evacuation.

Protestors storm Parliament buildings.

This comes moments after MPs passed the Finance Bill, 2024 with 195 votes against 106 who opposed it.

Azimio coalition allied MPs left the parliament buildings after the voting and joined the anti-finance bill protestors to demonstrate in Nairobi CBD.

The protests are being witnessed across many parts of the country including Mombasa, Nakuru, Kisumu, Bungom, and Nyeri.

Meanwhile, several protestors are reported injured in Nairobi with reports indicating that hospitals are overwhelmed.

According to the Kenya Human Rights Commission (KHRC), the police opened fire on several people within Nairobi County.

"Police have shot four protesters, as witnessed by KHRC, killing one. We strongly condemn the police killing. Such actions are unacceptable and constitute a grave violation of human rights.

"Justice and accountability are imperative. We will vigorously push for police accountability," KHRC added.
