The move means that the county assembly has neither endorsed nor rejected the Bill.

The Uasin Gishu County Assembly has abstains from voting for the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) Bill.

The move to abstain from the vote came after the Assembly's table a report urging members not take any side on the BBI vote.

27 MCAs supported the report,  while 19 opposed the report, 17 of them being nominated Jubilee Party members.

It is worth noting that the nominated MCAs had been summoned to Jubilee headquarters ahead of the vote.

The move means that the county assembly has neither endorsed nor rejected the Bill.

So far, 43 county assemblies have passed the Bill, 3 have rejected it  and one abstain.

Uasin Gishu County is the home turf of Deputy President William Ruto who has been one of the leading critics of the BBI Bill.
