Mathira MP Rigathi Gachagua has said that he will continue to be friends with President Uhuru Kenyatta, even if United Democratic Alliance (UDA) wins elections.
In an interview with Nation, Gachagua said that their differences are only political and not personal in any way.
He went on to state that their party leader, Deputy President William Ruto has always said President Kenyatta should be left alone to enjoy his retirement after August 9th, 2022 elections.
"We will continue being friends with President Kenyatta. Our differences are political, not personal. Our party leader has said President Kenyatta should be left to enjoy his retirement and be accorded the privileges of a retired head," the MP said.
Gachagua also insisted he has never had anything personal with the president and he looks forward to paying him a visit, after the political season ends.
"I have nothing personal against the President. In fact, I look forward to visiting him when the political season is over," he added.
This comes even as the MP has in almost every address made during their UDA campaigns directly attacked President Uhuru Kenyatta and his family.
The Mathira MP has been accusing Uhuru of abandoning the people of Mt Kenya region and joined forces with ODM leader Raila Odinga.
"Uhuru, you said you will come to Mt. Kenya and explain to sell Raila as your preferred choice and reveal why you fell out with Ruto. We welcome you, we are waiting for you on the ground
"Don't take long. We have missed you. Since we elected you, you deserted us and joined hands with Raila. Come home and explain what went wrong," Gachagua said.
