Foreign Affairs Chief Administrative Secretary (CAS) Ababu Namwamba has been appointed as the Head of International Relations in William Samoei Ruto's campaign team.
In a statement issued by Hussein Mohamed on Wednesday, February 9, DP Ruto stated that he had worked with Ababu for many years and valued his leadership skills.
"We have worked closely with Ababu over the past ten years on many fronts and I have come to value his leadership, experience, focus, and empathy. It is because of those qualities that I could not be more grateful to have him on our campaign team. With his considerable diplomatic talents, deep knowledge of the continent, strong networks on the global stage, and unwavering determination. I am confident in his role, leading international relations within my presidential campaign," DP Ruto stated.
In January 2022, Mr. Namwamba announced that he would not contest for any elective seat in August 2022.

He stated that he would work closely with Deputy President William Ruto to actualize his presidential ambitions.
"I am going to be working very closely with Ruto to deliver his presidency. I believe he offers this country a fresh beginning. I believe this country is at the cusp of a new start that has a paradigm shift in how the affairs of Kenya can be managed," Namwamba stated.
He added, “We have an election to win and we are determined to win it by doing everything constitutionally permitted to have Ruto elected the fifth president of Kenya. After that whoever he decides to work with and where will be is his prerogative."
