The National Cohesion and Integration Commission (NCIC) summoned Malindi legislator Aisha Jumwa and ODM Secretary-General Edwin Sifuna.
The two were summoned over reckless speech in Msambweni, Kwale County where political tensions were high during the by-election campaign.
Jumwa and Sifuna are expected to appear before the commission on December 22, 2020.
NCIC condemned the reckless utterances made by Sifuna and Jumwa and urged Kenyans to exercise tolerance and allow the law to take its cause.
"The use of such political rhetoric and vulgar language is wrong, unethical and shameful, the fact that any leader, especially those of the stature of MP and secretary-general, can even consider using such language is a low point for them and this nation," NCIC chair Samuel Kobia said.

Foul Language
During the Msambweni campaigns, Jumwa campaigned for the independent candidate Feisal Abdallah Bader while Sifuna backed Omar Boga.
Jumwa, in one of her campaigns for independent candidate Bader, without evidence and in the foulest of languages, claimed that her rivals planned to mete on her unprintable violations.
She went on to say that she wasn’t intimidated as she was no stranger in the business they were planning.
Sifuna responded in kind and body-shamed the Malindi MP stating other unprintable words.
