The Wiper Party leadership now wants ODM leader Raila Odinga to relinquish his leadership in the Azimio La Umoja One Kenya Coalition Party and entrust Kalonzo Musyoka with the same.
The party's luminaries have vouched for Kalonzo who they say is the best fit to inherit Raila's political bases ahead of the 2027 elections.
Kitui senator Enock Wambua is among the allies of Kalonzo who have called on Raila to groom the former vice president in readiness for the oncoming presidential vote.
He argues that Kalonzo has complemented Raila in his various presidential bids, urging the former premier to reciprocate the Wiper leader's gesture.
"I believe that Raila Odinga who we respect and the Nyanza backyard of ODM have benefited from the selflessness of Kalonzo. It is only fair that they reciprocate the gesture beginning this January," said Wambua.

"We must be very clear about who will be our presidential candidate in 2027 so that we can have enough time to popularise him and visit as many parts of this country as possible. This will make Kenya familiarise themselves with a possibility of a Kalonzo presidency," the senator added.
This comes ahead of the awaited announcement by Kalonzo who is expected to declare his bid for the presidency.
The Wiper leader shelved his bid again in favour of Raila who lost for the fifth time, this time at the hands of President William Ruto.
Kalonzo unsuccessfully ran second to Raila in the presidential elections of 2013 and 2017.
Meanwhile, Raila has not ruled out the possibility of him vying in 2027.
He would be aged 82 years by the time the 2027 General Election is held.
"I do not have to run as a President in 2027, if I don't run, somebody else will run. But I have not said that I am not going to run," he said in a recent TV interview.
