DP Gachagua's Condition to Nyanza Leaders Seeking Help in His Office

Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has pleaded with Nyanza leaders to shun using complicated English while seeking help from his office. 

Speaking in Rarieda, Siaya county on Saturday, January 14, during the homecoming fete of ICT CS Eliud Owalo, the deputy president observed that Nyanza leaders take pride in being affluent while speaking in English.

While saying it in jest, he claimed he would not be in a position to help because he might not understand the jargon of the English language the leaders use.

He also urged them to be modest in English while also visiting Cabinet Secretaries.

"Please reduce too much English. It's only National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetang'ula who can speak using the language deeply. But you, when coming for help to my office, why too much English?" he said as the audience broke into laughter.

In the same breath, the deputy president vowed to partner will all leaders for the common good of the citizenry.

For Nyanza particularly, he said the Kenya Kwanza government would roll out development programs going into the future; this is notwithstanding that the region did not support their presidential candidature in the 2022 polls.

"We have always promised to work together with all Kenyans, and this is an indication of Kenya Kwanza’s desire to serve Kenyans in all parts of the country and move Kenya forward. We will partner with all the leaders to ensure that they move forward in achieving our development goals.

We welcome their readiness to work with us to ensure the actualisation of all the projects, including the affordable housing," he said.
