A team of elite police officers has surrounded the home of former Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang'i.
Reports indicate that police are trying to arrest the former cabinet secretary. It's not yet clear what the motive of the arrest is.
Former Prime Minister Raila Odinga made his way to Matiang'i's home in Karen where he said he was shocked to hear police had surrounded the former CS's home.
"I have just received information that police have surrounded the home of Fred Matiang'i. I was shocked to hear that police came to arrest him at night," Odinga stated.

Odinga noted that if Matiang'i had committed a crime, he should be served with a notice so that he can appear before a police station.
Matiang'i's lawyer Danstan Omari added that they didn't know the motive of the arrest and why specifically police wanted to arrest the former CS at night.
"I can confirm to every Kenyan in this country that the life of Matiang’i is at risk. We don’t know the intention of wanting to invade Matiang’i’s home at this time of the night. We don’t know why they want to arrest him & where they want to take him to," Omari said.
