A team of elite police officers surrounded the home of former Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang'i on Wednesday night, February 9.
ODM leader Raila Odinga alongside a battery of lawyers pitched camp at Matiang'i's home until the police officers retreated.
The former prime minister questioned why police would visit Matiang'i's home at night without issuing a notice of what he has done.
"I have just received information that police have surrounded the home of Fred Matiang'i. I was shocked to hear that police came to arrest him at night. If Matiang’i has committed any crime, he should be served with a notice to appear before a police station," Odinga stated.
He added," "We are now witnessing what this country has been through, the times of late night arrests and detentions of people without any form of charges."

Matiang'i's lawyer Danstan Omari said that they were not aware of the motive of the raid and why police were looking for the former interior cabinet secretary.
"I can confirm to every Kenyan in this country that the life of Matiang’i is at risk. We don’t know the intention of wanting to invade Matiang’i’s home at this time of the night. We don’t know why they want to arrest him & where they want to take him to," Omari told the press.
