A senior police officer has been found dead in the Manga area in Nyamira county with a deep cut in the head.
Manga Sub County Criminal Investigations Officer Chief Inspector Isaac Thiaka was found at the base of the cliff about 100 feet deep.
It is unclear whether the officer took his life or was pushed down the cliff. He was attached to Manga Police Station.
The body was discovered 50 feet off the cliff by a woman who told detectives she was fetching firewood at the area.
The officer is said to have been in the company of another colleague the day the tragedy happened.
He however left him and rushed to the station to lower the National flag as it was approaching 6 pm, the time it is supposed to be lowered.
Upon getting back, he did not find the officer raising concerns about his whereabouts.
After the woman reported the incident, police stormed the area and discovered the dead was one of their own.
Traces of blood was discovered at the scene of the crime.
Nyamira police boss James Mutigo confirmed the incident and said they are investigating the matter.
