Ruto Promotes Several Senior KDF officers in Major Millitary Changes

President Willian Ruto on Friday announced major changes in the military that saw a number of officers promoted and posted in various units

The changes were made following the advice of the Defence Council chaired by CS Aden Duale.

In the changes, Brig Dennis Nyagah was promoted to the rank of Maj Gen and appointed Managing Director of Kenya Ordinance Factories Corporation.

Ruto further promoted Brig Mohamed Nur Hassan and appointed him General Officer Commanding Border Security Command.

Col Sylvester Chirchir was promoted to the rank of Brig and named deputy director directorate of national security industries.

Col Mathew Lilita Lenamunai was promoted to the rank of Brig and appointed Commander Kahawa Garrison.

Col Joseph Kaku Mutua was promoted to the rank of Brig and appointed Commander of Construction Engineers.

Brigade and Col Gilliad Mwachala Kimonge became a Brig and was appointed Chief of Operations, Defence Headquarters. 

Col Titus Gitamo Sokobe was promoted to Brig and appointed Chief of Infrastructure

Defence Headquarters, Col Omari Mohammed Rajab was promoted to Brig and appointed Deputy Managing Director Kenya Ordnance Factories Corporation.

Col Peter Kipketer Limo was promoted to Brig and deployed as Managing Director

Defence Forces Canteen Organization while Col Oscar Kizito Mulei was Promoted to Brig and appointed Director Centre for Security and Strategic Studies National Defence University - Kenya. 

Col Oswald Oduor Opiyo was promoted to Brig and remains Director of Uhuru Gardens National Monument and Museum and Col Roba Bonaya Wario was promoted to Brig and deployed to the Office of the National Security Advisor.

Maj Gen Rashid Abdi Elmi was moved to National Defence College and appointed Commandant, Maj Gen John Maison Nkoimo was posted to Kenya Military Academy and appointed Commandant while Maj Gen Eric Mbugua Kinuthia was posted to Joint Command and Staff College and appointed commandant. 

According to a statement from the Department of Defence, Maj Gen Charles Muriu Kahariri was appointed Deputy Commandant and Senior Directing Staff Navy, National Defence College while Maj Gen Fatuma Gaiti Ahmed was posted to National Defence College and appointed Senior Directing Staff Air.

Other changes have also been made across the Kenya Defence Forces in line with the defence council. 

The changes are seen to have been pushed by Chief of Defense Forces Gen Francis Ogolla to have his own team to work with.

This is after he took over from Gen Robert Kibochi last month after he attained his retirement age.
