Sports Cabinet Secretary Ababu Namwamba was on Wednesday, August 23 put on the spot after Members of Parliament asked him whether he will resign over mismanagement in the Ministry of Sports.
CS Namwamba stated he will not resign from his position saying he believes he is performing well in the Ministry.
“I believe honourable speaker that there is absolutely no sufficient ground that can cause my resignation because I believe I am performing exemplary well as cabinet secretary responsible for this ministry,” said Namwamba.
The sports CS at the same time noted that he inherited the ministry while in a total mess and has strived to uplift it.
“I have no doubt whatsoever in my mind, in my imagination that I am performing well as Cabinet Secretary for Sports, Arts and Youth Affairs. Ten months ago when I walked in to this ministry as the cabinet secretary, I inherited an arena that was in a total mess,” he added.

Namwamba further dismissed claims that Kenyans athletes currently taking part in the World Athletics Championships are using fake Adidas kits.
He explained Kenyans athletes do not use kits from Adidas as the government is in contract with Nike, which supplies attires.
“Kenyans teams at this level do not use Adidas as a brand. In fact the national Olympics committee of Kenya which is responsible for teams at this level has a contract with the Nike. It is a contract we found already in place and so Kenyans teams are by virtual of that contract kitted by Nike,” he stated.
“The team that went to Budapest, I have photos of them because I flagged off the team myself. I can share the images of the team fully kitted in Nike uniforms as per the contract.”
