Interior CS Kithure Kindiki has ordered the immediate transfer of police officers who have served more than three years in a police station.
The CS said those who defy the directive will not receive their salaries until they heed the directive.
"No Police Officer should serve in one station for more than three years. The signal communicating this directive has already been relayed," Kindiki said.
"Officers who have served a police station for 3 years must be transferred with immediate effect. Salary will be stopped for those who will not move. Those doing special assignments have a maximum duration of one year."

According to Kindiki, officers affected by the directive have 60 days to comply.
Kindiki spoke on Wednesday when he appeared before the Senators to answer questions regarding various issues in the security sector.
He said that the policy was part of recommendations by the Taskforce on Police reforms chaired by Chief Justice Emeritus David Maraga.
The transfer, the CS said, is meant to enhance the efficiency of officers in serving Kenyans.
To enhance security and bring to book perpetrators of criminal activities such as kidnappings and abductions, Kindiki said the Government is intensifying foot and mobile patrols.
He said the ministry is also sensitizing communities on the importance of sharing intelligence information on suspicious persons in their locality who are likely to commit crime and revitalising community policing and the Nyumba Kumi initiative to enhance information sharing.
The CS was responding to questions posed by Kirinyaga Senator James Kamau Murango and other Senators on cases of alleged kidnappings along the Makutano-Sagana Highway and other parts of the Country.
