The body of the judge was moved to the mortuary pending autopsy.

Siaya High Court presiding Judge Justice Daniel Ogembo has passed away.

Justice Ogembo was found dead on Wednesday, July 17 morning at his home in Siaya town.

Siaya Governor James Orengo has eulogized the High Court judge as a person who had a marvelous ability to listen keenly before interjecting.

“I join the entire judiciary in mourning the tragic death of Hon. Justice Daniel Ogembo Ogola who was the presiding Judge at Siaya High Court.

"Justice Ogembo had a marvelous ability to listen intently, reflect quietly, and then interject, usually with brief few words that brought clarity in the courtroom. May his soul rest in eternal peace,” Orengo stated.

Ogembo is reported to have worked for the better part of Tuesday before he went to his home.

His driver went to pick him up on Wednesday as usual but the High Court Judge did not pick up his calls and texts. He was forced to seek help to access Ogembo’s house where the body was found.

The body of the High Court judge was moved to the mortuary pending autopsy.

Ogembo joined the Judiciary as a magistrate in 2004 before he was appointed as a High Court Judge in 2016. He served in Eldoret and Milimani High Courts before being posted to the Siaya High Court.

His death comes days after Justice David Majanja died after undergoing surgery at a hospital in Nairobi.

The surgery is said to have been successful but things turned worse later resulting in his death.

Majanja was appointed High Court Judge in 2011 and served at Homa Bay, Migori, Kisumu, and Kisii High Courts. He also served at the Commercial and Tax Divisions and Milimani High Court Civil Division.
