Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has warned politicians against interfering with the fight against illicit alcohol and drug abuse.
Speaking on Wednesday, July 17 during the burial ceremony of Bishop Allan Kiuna in Kiambu County, DP Gachagua said he would call out names of the leaders who would try to interfere with the fight.
"As a truthful leader, I have put leaders on notice, anybody who tries to interfere with that war, we shall call you by name so that the people of Kenya can shame you because we cannot allow the reintroduction of poison disguised as alcohol to come and kill our children,” said the DP.
DP Gachagua also sent a warning to individuals manufacturing illicit alcohol noting that their days were numbers.
"We want as a government to tell the merchants of deaths, those who thrive on making a profit by manufacturing, distilling, distributing and selling poison disguised as alcohol, your days are numbered," he stated.

The Deputy President further called on religious organizations to join in the fight against alcohol and drug abuse.
“We want the church to play a central role in mentorship, counseling, and helping in the rehabilitation of those who have been addicted so that we can save the generation to be productive men and women,” Gachagua added.
The remarks come days after the DP claimed that some officials from the Ministry of Interior and Coordination of National Government were sabotaging the fight against illicit brew.
Gachagua termed the move as undermining President William Ruto and setting him up against Kenyans.
“If you people at interior think that you want to interfere with this successful program so as to undermine the Deputy President, you are effectively undermining President Ruto and his administration,” Gachagua said on July 7.
