Kenya Power has announced another nationwide blackout.

Kenya Power has announced an electricity outage affecting several parts of the country except some parts of the North Rift and Western region.

In a statement on Friday, September 6, the company disclosed that its engineers were working to restore power as soon as possible.

"We are experiencing an outage affecting several parts of the country except sections of the North Rift and Western regions. We will keep you updated on the progress and share more information on the restoration efforts as soon as possible," Kenya Power stated.

It, however, did not disclose the cause of the nationwide electricity outage.

In a subsequent update, Kenya Power noted that it has restored power in some parts of the North Rift, Central, Western, Nairobi and Mt. Kenya.

The incident comes just days after a similar power outage was experienced in many parts of the country.

On Friday night, August 30, Kenya Power confirmed an outage of electricity in most parts of the country except the North Rift region and sections of the Western region.

“We regret any inconvenience caused and urge for patience from our customers as we work towards restoring normalcy at the earliest opportunity,” Kenya Power said in a statement.

On Saturday morning, August 31, electricity was still not restored to many parts of the country before being restored later in the day.

The latest power outage comes after Energy Cabinet Secretary Opiyo Wandayi on Thursday, September 5, vowed to reduce the number of power blackouts in the country.
