The Kenya Wildlife Services (KWS) has issued guidelines for Kenyans who wish to visit national parks and reserves for free on Saturday, September 28.
For starters, the free entry will only apply to facilities managed by KWS countrywide.
Kenyans will access the facilities between 6 am and 6:30 pm.
Those intending to visit the parks were also advised to carry relevant documentation such as National Identification cards.

"Access to the national parks and reserves will be by vehicle. Access to the Nairobi Animal Orphanage, Nairobi Safari walk and Kisumu Impala Sanctuary will be by foot," KWS directed.
"Special activities: free entry is only for game drives, and wildlife viewing in captive wildlife facilities and is not applicable to some specific special activities, such as guided tours and events, camping etc. These will attract applicable fees."
Owing to the expected activities, police and other security personnel will be deployed to control crowds.
Consequently, Kenyans were advised to adhere to all the rules given to them by officers manning the parks. Meanwhile, several activities have been banned inside the parks.
Banned Activities
Those seeking to enjoy the park-free day have been warned against driving off the designated roads and getting out of their vehicles in undesignated locations.
Hooting inside the parks and reserves was also banned. Officers at the parks will also be on the lookout for those who make loud noise.
Littering in the parks was also banned alongside getting too close to the animals.
"KWS through the Wardens in charge shall keep a record of the number of visitors and vehicles that will enter the parks and reserves. This information will enable the Government to report the number of beneficiaries and for accountability purposes."
" The citizen clients who had pre-paid to visit on 28th September 2024 will be processed in the system (entered and exited), no rescheduling of their ticket," read the rules in part.
