The Office of the Prime Cabinet Secretary (OPCS) has announced a four-day exercise to verify and validate national government projects in the Western and Nyanza regions.

In a statement on Monday, October 28, OPCS noted it will coordinate with the Ministry of Interior in the exercise, which will run from Monday to Thursday, October 31. 

"Office of the Prime Cabinet Secretary (OPCS) in conjunction with the Ministry of Interior and National Government Administration (MINA) will from Monday, October 28, to Thursday, October 31, embark on phase two of verification and validation of selected High Impact National Government Projects and Programmes in Nyanza and Western regions," read part of the statement.

Among the projects and programmes in focus include the construction of affordable housing units, the construction of roads, the implementation of an edible oil value chain project, and the expansion of Technical Vocational  Education and Training (TVET) institutions.

Other projects include the transformation and digitization of the Attorney General's office in Siaya, mineral resource development and commercialization in Vihiga and Migori, agricultural crop insurance for farmers, and civil aviation development and management at Kisumu Airport.

The exercise began last month with phase one conducted in the Eastern and Coast regions, while phases three and four are planned for the Rift Valley, Nairobi, Central, and North Eastern regions.

"The purpose of this countrywide exercise is to verify and validate the status of High Impact selected Projects and Progammes for the Financial Year 2023/24, taking into consideration the information provided by the Ministries Departments and State Agencies (MDAs)," National Government Coordination Secretariat (NGCS) communications director Andrew Teyie stated.

He added that OPCS is working with the National Government Administrative Officers (NGAO)  in the the Ministry of Interior to coordinate the exercise as a whole government approach.
