The deceased's send-off has been scheduled for Tuesday, November 12.

Former president Uhuru Kenyatta's extended family has been thrown into mourning.

Uhuru's brother-in-law, William Gakuo, breathed his last on November 6; he was former First Lady Margaret Kenyatta's brother.

He was brother to four others namely Gabriela, Maina, Anna, and Christine.

The cause of his death was not disclosed.

"It is with deep sorrow and humble acceptance of God's will that we announce the passing of William Gakuo," an obit message published in a local daily partly read.

The deceased was the husband of Sheila Wanjiku Mwangi.

He was also an uncle to the late Noni, Jomo and Achola, Lena and Bulisa, Ngina and Alex, Muhoho and Chizi, and a grandfather to many.

Meanwhile, little was known about Gakuo.

The deceased, despite his sister and brother-in-law's prominence in Kenya, kept a low profile.

It is, however, in the public domain that he attended the same school as Uhuru.

The duo schooled at the prestigious St Mary's School, where they became friends.

The former president is on record stating that he met his wife through Gakuo.

It is through him that Uhuru got to wed Margaret at the Holy Family Basilica in 1989.

“I first met her brother. We went to the same secondary school and quickly became friends and it was through him that I managed to meet his younger sister and we started a relationship that has lasted from high school until now. I am thankful to God for that," Uhuru Kenyatta once revealed.

As indicated in the obituary, friends and family would meet at the deceased's home in Karen, Nairobi, on Saturday, November 9, and Sunday, November 10, for send-off arrangements.

The deceased is slated for cremation at the Hindu Crematorium in Kariokor, Nairobi.

At the time of this publication, the former president was yet to comment on the sad development.
