The Public Service Commission (PSC) has called for applications for the position of Principal Secretary (PS).

In an advert, PSC Chairperson Anthony Muchiri stated that a vacancy has arisen following reassignments within the Executive.

"Whereas, following various reassignments within the senior ranks of the Executive, a vacancy has arisen within the ranks of Principal Secretaries.  

"Now therefore, pursuant to Article 155(3)(a) of the Constitution, the Public Service Commission hereby invites applications from suitably qualified persons for consideration for appointment to the position of Principal Secretary," the advert read. 

Requirements

Muchiri stated that interested candidates must be citizens of Kenya, hold a degree from a university-recognized university and have at least ten years of relevant professional experience, five years of which should have been in a leadership position or at a top management level in the public service or private sector.  

Additionally, they must possess general knowledge of the organization and functions of Government, demonstrate an understanding of the goals, policies, and developmental objectives of the nation and have demonstrable leadership and management capacity, including knowledge of financial management and strategic people management.  

Muchiri also said that they must meet the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution on leadership and integrity.

With the deadline set for December 4, 2024, Muchiri directed that each application should be accompanied by a detailed CV, copies of relevant academic and professional certificates and transcripts, ID card or passport, and testimonials and other relevant supporting documents.

Applications can be submitted manually; hand-delivered to the Office of the Secretary/CEO situated on the 4th floor of Commission House, off Harambee Avenue, Nairobi or online in PDF format to [email protected]

Muchiri said the names of all applicants and those shortlisted will be published in the print media after the closure of the advert.  

Shortlisted candidates are expected to get clearance from the Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA), Higher Education Loans Board (HELB) and Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC).

They are also expected to get the Certificate of Good Conduct from the Directorate of Criminal Investigation and be cleared by a registered Credit Reference Bureau (CRB).
