"I want you to take me as your personal advisor and pay me."

Mumias East Member of Parliament Peter Salasya has asked President William Ruto to hire him as his personal advisor so that he can tell him the truth.

Speaking on Monday, January 20, in Mumias, Kakamega County, Salasya claimed that President William Ruto's advisors were not telling him the truth regarding the state of the nation.

The first-time lawmaker contended that the government has placed a significant financial burden on Kenyans through heavy deductions on their pay slips and promised to support the president for his re-election if he addressed the concerns of Kenyans.

“Mr. President, I want you to take me as your personal advisor and pay me because your people don’t tell you the truth. They tell you SHA is working, but it's not working, they tell you that the new university model is working, but it's not working. I want to tell you that you have a heart to help Kenyans. But there are cartels in your government who don’t want you to tell you the truth.

"I know you’re a God-sent leader but there are some people who want to use you. I want you to be elected for another term but I want you to look at the pay slips of Kenyans and you will be elected as president again. I will support you if you do that,” Salasya remarked.

The lawmaker spoke in the presence of President Ruto, who was presiding over the launch of the issuance of first-ever bonus payments to sugarcane cane farmers in Mumias.

Salasya maintained that if the head of state wanted to be successful in his leadership, he should involve stakeholders in every government decision.

“I want to ask you that if you want to be a successful leader in this nation, let us involve the stakeholders so that we ensure that each decision comes from them. If you involve stakeholders, even the Social Health Authority (SHA) will work," Salasya stated.
