President William Ruto's senior economic advisor, Moses Kuria, has disclosed that learners must be registered with the Social Health Authority (SHA) to be allowed in school next year.
Speaking on Saturday, September 30, during a church service in Limuru, Kiambu County, Kuria urged parents that as they register for SHA, they should also ensure that their children are included.
He explained that when learners leave home for school, they come under the care of the state, making the government responsible for their medical needs.
“If you are a parent and you have registered but not registered your child, the health record in school about the student will be set aside in January. For your child to be allowed in school, you must have registered them for SHA.
"We are doing that because when the child leaves your hands, they become the property of the state. When they fall ill, the government is the one that knows how their medical expenses will be paid," Kuria remarked.
