President William Ruto has hit out at critics of his government, affirming that his administration was on course delivering its promises to Kenyans.
Speaking on Friday, January 3, at the burial of National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetang'ula's mother in Bungoma County, President Ruto addressed social media critics using the popular Kasongo song to mock him, encouraging them to carry on.
The Head of State also embraced the nickname 'Zakayo,' asserting that collecting taxes for the nation's progress is a noble responsibility.
“There are some people on social media who don’t want us to say these issues because they want to say that there is no work being done in the country. Even that ‘Kasongo’ is a good song and let us continue with it.
"Even that for ‘Zakayo’ is not bad because collecting taxes to steer the country forward is good. Even Zakayo is the one whom God visited. Now that you have not been Zakayo, how will God visit you?" President Ruto posed.

Meanwhile, the president urged Kenyans to unite for the nation’s progress and avoid being divided into factions and alignments.
He explained that if the country succeeded, everyone would succeed, but if it did not, the effect would also be felt by every citizen.
“Of importance is to work together. And that is why we have said that there is no need to be divided. There are people who get angry because Kenyans are working together and they don’t have a place to take their conflicts.
“If Kenya succeeds, it succeeds with all of us. And if it does not, we are all affected. We must join forces and work together. I thank all the leaders that have agreed that we will work together in the best interest of the country," the president stated.
