Two drivers of Public Service Vehicles (PSVs) that were recently impounded for breaching traffic regulations have been arraigned at Kibera Law Courts.
Dominic Amaya, the driver of a minibus, popularly known as Manifest, and John Mwangi were charged with driving unroadworthy vehicles.
Both drivers pleaded guilty to the charges and the court imposed a penalty of Ksh50,000 or a six-month jail term on each driver.
The move is part of ongoing efforts by the authorities to enforce stricter compliance with road safety standards and reduce accidents caused by poorly maintained PSVs.

The arraignment of the two drivers in court came a day after the National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) impounded the two PSVs.
In a statement on Thursday, January 9, NTSA announced that the matatus were at a police station, further sharing photos of the impounded vehicles.
NTSA added that police were investigating the matatu crew following the emergence of a video which captured the vehicles flaunting traffic rules.
"We thank you for bringing this to our attention. The two PSVs are at the Police Station for processing and further action," read the statement in part.
A section of Kenyans on social media had lamented over the conduct of the matatus on the road.
In the video shared online, the matatu was being driven on the wrong side of the road while two individuals sat on top of the vehicles along Magadi Road.
