The NA Speaker made the remarks after the discovery of the bodies of Justus Mutumwa and Martin Mwau - two men who went missing in Mlolongo.

National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetang'ula had called for thorough investigations over the recent abductions and deaths of missing persons.

Speaking in Kakamega County on Friday, January 31, Wetang'ula called on Inspector General of Police Douglas Kanja and the DCI to investigate the incidents and bring the perpetrators to justice.

He acknowledged that the police had distanced themselves from the abductions, adding that speedy investigations would expose people behind the recent deaths.

He added that the government owed it to the people to protect them, given that the Kenya Kwanza administration had pledged to end extrajudicial killings during the campaigns.

“We shudder to get back to any situation where we were finding bodies in River Yala and other areas. The government of Kenya Kwanza has promised and is committed to respecting human rights,” the Speaker remarked.

"IG, DCI, DPP, you must carry out a thorough and swift investigation so that we can put an end to this issue, which is tarnishing the reputation of our country."

Notably, the NA Speaker made the remarks after the discovery of the bodies of Justus Mutumwa and Martin Mwau - two men who went missing in Mlolongo.

Earlier, Public Service CS Justin Muturi challenged President William Ruto to end the abductions.

He proposed that the government form a commission of inquiry to investigate the recent abductions and deaths, adding that it could no longer be business as usual.

"Surely, what kind of country are we? And we are pretending to be solving issues in DRC. The number of people who have died is so many and it should prick the conscience of any right thing leader in this country," the CS expressed.
