Those who saw the body revealed that the man did not have a shirt and there were also visible injuries to the neck.

The body of an unidentified man has been discovered near a river at the Kitengela-Athi River interchange along Mombasa Road.

According to travellers and human rights groups, the body was discovered in the afternoon of Monday, February 3.

Those who saw the body, including journalist Saddique Shaban, revealed that the man did not have a shirt.

There were also visible injuries to the neck while the legs had been tied - an indication of murder.

"People mill around a scene where an unidentified body of a man has been discovered on the river's culvert. The victim's leg appears tied to a cloth and his body has no shirt," Shaban stated.

Onlookers including human rights activist Hussein Khalid at the scene where the body of a man was discovered along Mombasa Road.

On the other hand, some of the boda boda riders in the area claimed that the body may have been dumped during the day as they did not come across it during the morning hours.

"Just received reports of a body that has been dumped at the Kitengela junction/bypass on Mombasa road. Our team from VOCAL Africa is heading to the scene," human rights activist Hussein Khalid wrote on his X account.

"Local bodaboda operators are claiming the body must have been dumped recently since they did not notice it in the earlier hours of the morning."

The body of the man is yet to be identified even as police are expected to conduct investigations regarding the discovery of the body.

Notably, the discovery of the body comes at a time when Kenyans have raised concerns over rising cases of abductions.

These incidents have even caught the attention of senior government officials including Public Service CS Justin Muturi, whose son was abducted in 2024.

"This is a very serious matter and it should actually take the anger of this country because why are we allowing young men and girls to be kidnapped? Only later to be found killed," the CS lamented.

Meanwhile, police are yet to solve the mystery behind the discovery of the bodies of Justus Mutumwa and Martin Mwau - men who were abducted in Mlolongo in 2024.
