Detectives from the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) have apprehended officers attached to the Kenya Revenue Authorities (KRA).
The duo was arrested on Friday evening, February 21, in connection with bribery at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA).
According to the antigraft body, the duo was nabbed by officers during an ongoing crackdown on bribery at service delivery points.
According to the agency, the suspects, named Mutava Lawrence and Timothy Momanyi, demanded a Sh 120,000 bribe to release goods confiscated from a traveller.
"The EACC arrested Mutava Lawrence and Timothy Momanyi, employees of Kenya Revenue Authority deployed as Customs Officers at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, for allegedly demanding KSh 120,000 bribe as a condition for the release of goods they had confiscated from a traveller," the EACC said in a statement.

The traveller however did not yield to their ways; he refused to give out the bribe and instead contacted the EACC over the matter.
The commission deployed its officers who busted the duo.
A further search was conducted in their vehicles Sh 297,000 suspected to be proceeds of corruption and a firearm were recovered.
The suspects were booked into the Industrial Area Police Station and awaiting further processing and arraignment.
