A funeral in Kirinyaga County turned chaotic after a bishop presiding over the ceremony was evicted for refusing to allow politicians to address the mourners.

In viral videos circulating online, the bishop could be seen taking the microphone away from Kirinyaga Woman Representative Njeri Maina just as she was about to speak.

This action immediately sparked outrage among the mourners, who turned hostile towards the clergyman.

Despite his attempts to calm the crowd, the situation quickly escalated.

The bishop assured the mourners that all politicians, including Njeri, would be given a chance to speak, but his words did little to appease the gathering.

The woman representative, visibly angered by the bishop's actions, lashed out at him, but he remained firm in his decision.

Meanwhile, the crowd grew more agitated, with people loudly insisting that the politicians must be allowed to speak.

The master of ceremonies attempted to restore order, but the mourners stood their ground, demanding that the woman rep be given the microphone.

As tensions continued to rise, the bishop was eventually forced to leave the venue.

Defending his decision, the bishop stated that the politicians had been given a chance to condole with the family, but instead chose to hit out at each other.

"This is a burial ceremony; it is not a political rally, and we are not fighting with them. We have honored them and given them an opportunity to condole with the family, but instead of condoling, they want to settle scores," he said.

The clergyman also dismissed claims that he was part of the government and deliberately denied the politicians a chance to speak.

"I'm not on the government side because I sat down with the area MP and CECs and told them that they should not have done that, because that is not what we came here to do," he added.
