National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetang'ula has expressed support for the pact between ODM and UDA, which President William Ruto and former PM Raila Odinga signed.
Speaking in Bungoma County on Friday, March 7, Wetang'ula revealed that he, along with other Kenya Kwanza principals, held a meeting before the KICC event.
He detailed that the meeting was held on Thursday, adding that the leaders endorsed the deal.
The Speaker urged Kenyans to rally behind the deal, noting that the move was aimed at uniting the country.
"Yesterday, as the leaders of Kenya Kwanza, we sat down, discussed and agreed that the best way for the President to unite Kenyans economically, socially and politically is for us to support him to reduce the political noise so that Kenyans can build the nation.

"This morning, the President and Raila signed an agreement, and we support it all of us so that we can unite and remove the politics of tribalism and shares," he stated.
Wetang'ula was among the notable leaders who missed the KICC event.
Instead, he attended various development project meetings in his home county and also attended a funeral service for former IEBC boss Wafula Chebukati in Trans Nzoia county.
Likewise, Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi explained that he missed the KICC meeting due to other engagements, including attending a funeral where he was representing Ruto.
However, he reiterated his support for the deal between Raila and Ruto.
"Dr. Mudavadi is not only a firm believer in the unity of the country but also one of the strong campaigners of the Broad-based government. The signing of the pact between UDA and ODM comes hot on the heels of the merger of Amani National Congress (ANC) and UDA," read a statement by the office of the PCS
