Mudavadi’s visit follows an invitation from Hungary’s Minister for Foreign Affairs and Trade Péter Szijjártó.

Prime Cabinet Secretary and Cabinet Secretary for Foreign and Diaspora Affairs Musalia Mudavadi has embarked on a three-day visit to Hungary. 

In a statement on Monday, March 10, the Office of the Prime CS said Mudavadi will sign key agreements on agriculture and education during the visit.

Additionally, he will engage in discussions aimed at enhancing bilateral cooperation and fostering stronger ties between the two nations.  

According to the statement, Mudavadi’s visit follows an invitation from Hungary’s Minister for Foreign Affairs and Trade Péter Szijjártó. 

"Musalia Mudavadi, left for Budapest, Hungary today for the signing of several Memoranda of Understanding between Kenya and Hungary in different fields, and also pay a courtesy meeting to H.E Dr. Tama Sulyok, President of the Republic of Hungary between the 10th-13th of February 2025. 

"Mudavadi's visit follows an invitation from His Excellency Péter Szijjártó, Minister for Foreign Affairs and Trade of Hungary, a reciprocal visit given that Minister Szijjártó visited Kenya early last year, where they discussed issues of mutual interest between our countries," the statement read.

A major highlight of the trip will be the signing of two Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) in the fields of education and agriculture.  

"The PCS will on behalf of the country sign two Memoranda of Understanding between Kenya and Hungary in the fields of: Education, and Agriculture. These two MoUs will cement Kenya and Hungary's aspiration to promote bilateral partnerships and open up new avenues for collaboration in these areas among others, owing to the enormous potential available," the statement added. 

Additionally, discussions between Mudavadi and Szijjártó will focus on expanding expertise exchange and modernizing best agricultural practices.

"In the agriculture sector, Minister Péter Szijjártó, and Dr. Mudavadi will firm up the working arrangement on the exchange of expertise and best agricultural practices to enhance agricultural productivity in both our countries," the statement further read.

Beyond agriculture and education, energy cooperation will also be on the agenda of Mudavadi's meetings with Hungarian officials in Budapest.

"Other areas of interest that Dr. Mudavadi will pursue with the Hungarian government include the energy sector, where he will push for the implementation of the MOU for Cooperation in the Field of Training and Education of Atomic Industry on the Peaceful Uses of Nuclear Energy signed during Minister Péter Szijjártó's visit to Nairobi early last year. 

"The MOU agreed on the exchange capacity for the use of nuclear energy as an alternative source of clean renewable energy," the statement added.
