The Kenyan officer was evacuated to ASPEN Level 2 Hospital.

A Kenyan Police Officer was on Tuesday, March 18 injured during a security operation in Kenscoff, within the Belot area in Haiti.

In a statement, Multinational Security Support Mission to Haiti Spokesperson Jack Ombaka said the officer was evacuated to ASPEN Level 2 Hospital.  

According to Ombaka, the Injured officer is in stable condition after receiving medical attention.

“Today, Tuesday, 18th March 2025, a member of the MSS Kenyan contingent was injured while conducting a security operation in Kenscoff, within the Belot area. The officer was promptly evacuated to ASPEN Level 2 Hospital, where he is receiving medical attention and is in stable condition,” said Ombaka.

The MSS Spokesperson thanked Haitians of goodwill and others who wished the injured officer a swift recovery.

“I sincerely thank you all for your unwavering support and cooperation as we engage in this decisive phase of operations against criminal elements,” Ombaka added.

The incident comes weeks after another officer succumbed after he sustained injuries during an operation in Segur-Savien in the Artibonite department.

The Kenyan officer who was identified as Samuel Tompoi Kaetuai was airlifted to Aspen Level 2 Hospital but passed away while receiving treatment.

The body of the officer arrived in Kenya on March 10 and was received by Deputy Inspector General of the Administration Police Service (APS) Gilbert Masengeli at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA).

Tompoi’s body was then transported to Chiromo Mortuary for preservation, pending burial arrangements.

The MSS mission, led by Kenyan officers, has been operating in Haiti since June 2024 to assist in combating violent gangs that have been destabilizing the country.

Kenya has deployed 744 officers to Haiti so far, with the latest contingent of 144 police officers arriving in the nation on February 7, 2025.
