The victims were passengers in a matatu that rammed into the rear of a cargo truck.

Two people lost their lives on the morning of Tuesday, March 25, in a tragic road accident at Sobea, Nakuru County.

According to reports, the victims were passengers in a matatu that rammed into the rear of a cargo truck.

Confirming the incident, disaster response officer Rachael Maru said the matatu, belonging to Ena Coach, collided with the truck resulting in the fatal crash.

Eight other passengers sustained serious injuries and were rushed to Nakuru Provincial Hospital for urgent medical attention.

Emergency response teams arrived at the scene promptly to assist the injured and clear the wreckage.

Authorities have launched an investigation into the incident to determine the exact cause of the crash.

The accident comes barely a week after several people were feared dead following a road accident along the Ruaka-Githogoro highway near Two Rivers Mall.

The accident, which took place on Friday morning, March 21, involved a 14-seater matatu that lost control, veered off the road, and plunged into a ditch after colliding with a billboard.

Eyewitnesses reported that the matatu en route from Ruaka to Kiambu Town was traveling at high speed when the crash occurred.

The wreckage, captured in videos and images circulating on social media, showed the matatu extensively damaged, with its windscreen shattered and seats broken.

The Ruaka-Githogoro highway, a busy corridor connecting Ruaka to neighboring towns, has been the site of several accidents in recent years.

Earlier in the month, thirteen people were confirmed dead following a tragic road accident at Migaa black spot along the Nakuru-Eldoret Highway.

The accident occurred on Friday, March 14 at around 2 AM and involved a matatu and a trailer ferrying coffee seeds.

Preliminary reports indicate that the trailer, which was heading to Eldoret experienced brake failure, lost control, and rammed into the matatu trapping the passengers on board.

As a result, all the occupants in the matatu died on the spot, and two others were in the lorry.
