President William Ruto on Wednesday, March 26, reshuffled his Cabinet, naming Aden Duale as the new Cabinet Secretary for the health docket.
In the latest changes, Duale has been moved from the Ministry of Environment, Climate Change & Forestry to head the Ministry of Health, while Barasa has taken over the Ministry of Environment, Climate Change & Forestry.
At the same time, Ruto has sacked Public Service CS Justin Muturi, replacing him with Mbeere North MP Geoffrey Ruku.
Ruto has been at odds with Muturi and even recently stated his tenure as Attorney General was marked by incompetence.
"I had a problem with the AG who was there, he was fairly incompetent. But I now have a very competent lady in that position, and I can assure you that the issues of Waqf will be sorted out in a matter of months," Ruto said on Tuesday, March 25.

Additionally, the Head of State nominated Hanna Cheptumo as the new CS for Gender, Culture and Heritage.
Hanna is the widow of departed Baringo Senator William Cheptumo.

Duale initially served as the Cabinet Secretary for Defence from October 31, 2022, until his dismissal on July 11, 2024.
He was reinstated on July 19, 2024, as the Cabinet Secretary for Defence shortly before being moved to the Ministry of Environment, Climate Change and Forestry.
In a statement via X on Tuesday, July 23, Duale thanked Ruto for reassignment, noting that he was looking forward to serving in the new portfolio.
“I am grateful to President William Ruto for reassigning me from the Defence Ministry to the Ministry of Environment, Climate Change, and Forestry.
"I look forward to serving in my new portfolio and ensuring the focus is on sustainable environmental management, combating climate change, and promoting reforestation and conservation efforts,” said Duale.
