The MP also called out Ruto for sacking former Public Service CS Justin Muturi.

Manyatta MP Gitonga Mukunji has called on President William Ruto to sack Agriculture CS Mutahi Kagwe.

Speaking in Embu County on Sunday, March 30, the MP expressed displeasure at how Kagwe had been running the ministry.

The MP noted that the ban on the export of macadamia nuts would affect many farmers in the area.

According to the MP, most farmers had stored the nuts, adding that their prices would fall once the market is opened due to high supply.

"There has been a ban on the sale of macadamia for the last six months. That is the CS who does not know his job," he stated.

"Now, you have closed the market, and you will announce the reopening of the market one day. Some people have bought the nuts have put them in the stores. Once you open the market, they will flood the market, and the prices will drop. You are the one who is letting us down."

He also alleged that the farmers in the area were yet to receive the subsidized fertilizer. Earlier, Kagwe had announced that the fertilizers would be distributed across the country from Monday, March 24.

On the other hand, Mukunji called out the Head of State for sacking former Public Service CS Justin Muturi.

According to Mukunji, there is no way Muturi would have served in high government offices such as the Speaker of National Assembly and Attorney General if he was incompetent.

The MP was referring to Ruto's statements that were made during a meeting with Muslim leaders.

At the time, the Head of State was lamenting over delays in the establishment for the Muslim Endowment Fund.

“I had a problem with the AG who was there before - he was fairly incompetent. But now, I have a very competent lady in the position, and I can assure you that the issues of Waqf will be sorted out within months,” Ruto stated.
