The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) has announced the arrest of a matatu driver who used students as disguise to transport bhang.
In a statement dated Wednesday, March 2, DCI revealed that its officers launched an operation along the Migori-Kisumu Highway following a tip from the public.
It was noted that the operation was targeting Calvin Okoth, a matatu driver suspected to be transporting the drug.
During his arrest, DCI noted that the 14-seater matatu was full of students who were heading home after closing school.
The police explained that the move to carry students only was aimed at throwing off the police, given that there were sacks and suitcases tied on top of the vehicle.
