A compiled report on jobs in Kenya has revealed 3 sectors that the government can leverage to create mass job opportunities for Kenyans.
In the report that was compiled based on data from the Kenya National Bureau of Statistics (KNBS) and the Future of Jobs Report 2025 by the World Economic Forum, the agricultural sector was identified as a potential job creation sector.
Some of the initiatives that were proposed in the sector include the expansion of the fertilizer subsidy programme to reach more farmers.
Additionally, training of farmers on modern farming techniques was encouraged to increase productivity - a move that will also increase job opportunities.
Notably, in the Future of Jobs report, the agricultural sector was identified as the area that will create more jobs across the world in the next five years.

Another sector identified for potential job creation in Kenya was the expansion of public works programs such as the Climate WorX Mtaani that was launched by President William Ruto.
Through the expansion of the programs in rural and urban areas, many unemployed youth are projected to be engaged in a form of employment.
Meanwhile, the government was encouraged to partner with the private sector to create job opportunities in the digital space.
"Invest in digital literacy and online work training to enable more youth to access remote job markets," read the compiled report in Kenya.
"Encourage private sector partnerships to expand freelancing, IT, and BPO (Business Process Outsourcing) opportunities."
Currently, the youth unemployment rate (20-24 years) is above 15%, with many Kenyans employed in the informal sector.
