DP Kindiki will represent President William Ruto, who is currently on a state visit to China. 

Deputy President Kithure Kindiki has flown out of the country to Entebbe, Uganda.

In a statement on Friday April 25, the Deputy President stated that he will represent President William Ruto during the Extraordinary Summit of the African Union Support and Stabilization Mission in Somalia (AUSSOM) which is being held in Entebbe.

“Departed for Entebbe, Uganda to represent President William Samoei Ruto and the Republic of Kenya during the Extraordinary Summit of the African Union Support and Stabilization Mission in Somalia (AUSSOM),” Kindiki stated.

President Ruto is also out of the country after he embarked on a state visit to China on Tuesday, April 22.

Ruto was officially welcomed by Chinese President Xi Jinping on Thursday, April 24 in a colorful ceremony that included a 21-gun salute, full military honors, and a state banquet.

The visit which will conclude on Saturday April 26, is aimed to deepen the Kenya-China Comprehensive Strategic Partnership established in 2017.

According to State House, Kenya has secured major deals in trade, infrastructure, and strategic partnerships following President Ruto's trip to China.

State House Spokesperson Hussein Mohamed noted that among the highlights of the agreements are major infrastructure projects, including the extension of the Standard Gauge Railway to Naivasha (Phase II) and from Naivasha to Malaba (Phase III).

China has also pledged support for road development projects such as the Nairobi-Nakuru-Mau Summit-Malaba Highway and the Kiambu-Northern Bypass.

Meanwhile, National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetang’ula also jetted out of the country on Thursday night to represent President Ruto at the burial of Pope Francis, scheduled for Saturday, April 26.

"President William Ruto is out in China; he has nominated and instructed me to represent him at the burial of the Pope on Saturday. I'll be leaving tonight for Rome to go and join other world leaders in sending off our Pope," Wetang’ula announced on Thursday.
