Opposition leaders have been in talks to form a coalition that will challenge Ruto in 2027.

Kisii Senator Richard Onyonka has revealed two opposition leaders who would be best suited to challenge President William Ruto in 2027.

Speaking during a media interview on Monday, May 5, Onyonka opined that Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka and former Interior CS Fred Matiang'i would be the front runners.

While he did not detail his exact preference for who should be the Presidential candidate, he detailed that the ticket of the two was good enough to challenge Kenya Kwanza in 2027.

He added that Kalonzo was among the best suited for the job, owing to his experience in government for many years.

On the other hand, he detailed that Matiang'i would do a better job than President William Ruto.

"If Fred Matiang'i is given an opportunity to become the President of Kenya, I believe that he is in a position where he can not take it to a position lower than it is right now. If Kalonzo is the President, I will sleep well," he stated.

Opposition leaders have been in talks to form a coalition that will challenge Ruto in 2027.

Recently, the opposition leaders incorporated Matiang'i, former Agriculture CS Mithika Linturi and former Public Service CS Justin Muturi.

The leaders who have already expressed interest in the presidential ticket include Matiang'i, Kalonzo, former DP Rigathi Gachagua, DAP-K leader Eugene Wamalwa and PLP leader Martha Karua.

Notably, in a show of unity, the leaders held a thanksgiving event on Sunday, May 4, at Wamunyoro, where they noted that they would be working together to defeat Ruto.
