Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has challenged DCI boss Amin Mohamed to record a statement from Kikuyu MP Kimani Ichung'wah, who claimed that his parents were to be killed last week.

Speaking in Nyandarua County on Tuesday, July 1, he wondered why the MP had not recorded a statement with the police.

Ichung'wah had claimed that Gachagua was behind a plot to have his parents attacked and killed during the Wednesday protests.

"The Kikuyu MP went to Parliament and said he knew those who wanted to kill his parents. If someone wants to kill your parents, won't you go to the police station? You do not go to Parliament," he stated.

"Has he (DCI boss) taken a statement from him?"

Meanwhile, he questioned why the DCI was yet to summon MPs to record a statement following accusations that they had levelled against the opposition.

"Those MPs who spoke for 2 hours and said that they know who planned the protests, have they recorded a statement?" Gachagua posed.

"Why haven't you recorded a statement from Murkomen?"

Meanwhile, he insisted that the violence witnessed during the Wednesday protests was state-sponsored.

Gachagua alleged that there was a plot to tarnish his name using the chaos.

Last week, Ruto allies claimed that the former DP was behind the chaos. They, therefore, called on the police to arrest the former DP.

“I dare say today in this House, Hon. Rigathi Gachagua is the one who directed goons he mobilized to go and murder my parents, destroy my property in Kikuyu, and damage property belonging to the people of Kikuyu in the name of revenge. We cannot build a country that way,” Ichung'wah claimed.
