A postmortem conducted on the body of Kasipul MP Charles Were has revealed that his killer shot him five times.

Speaking to the media after the exercise on Monday, May 5, the Government Pathologist, Johansen Oduor, revealed that there were two gun entry wounds on the left arm.

Additionally, he was shot twice on the left side of the chest. One of the bullets aimed at the chest, exited the body on the right side of the chest.

The postmortem also revealed that there was a bullet on his back whose entry point was the left side of the upper back.

Meanwhile, the pathologist expressed that the MP could not have survived the gun attack, given that integral body organs such as the heart were affected.

"We have taken samples for analysis. Further to that, we have found injuries in the vital organs. There was bullet track on the lungs, the heart, the liver and the aorta," he revealed.

"This means that the late MP could not survive the injuries caused by the gunshot."

Were was shot on Wednesday, March 30, after leaving Parliament while he was stuck along Ngong Road.

Following the launch of investigations, 4 individuals have been arrested by police who noted that the attack was targeted - an assassination.

"Investigators have also recovered crucial evidence linked to the crime, as well as to the perpetrators," police noted in a statement.

"Additionally, some of the suspects arrested are members of organised criminal gangs, such as 'Mjahidin', which has been linked to armed robberies in the Eastlands area of Nairobi."
