Kajiado West Member of Parliament George Sunkuyia has been arrested by detectives from the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC).
The UDA lawmaker was apprehended on Tuesday, May 27, for allegedly forging a Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) certificate.
The Kajiado West MP is accused of presenting a forged KCSE certificate to Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT) in January 2012, claiming it had been issued by the Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC).
“On 30th day of January 2012 at Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT) Juja within Kiambu County, knowingly and fraudulently uttered to the Registrar Academic Affairs JKUAT, a forged a Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education Serial No. 2988068, with a mean Grade of C+ purporting it to be a genuine certificate issued to you by the Kenya National Examination Council,” a charge seen by Nairobi Leo read in part.

Sunkuyia was taken to EACC headquarters at the Integrity Centre, where he is being processed ahead of arraignment in court.
He is set to be charged with providing false information to EACC, forgery, and uttering a false document.
Sunkuyia was first elected to parliament in 2017 under the Jubilee Party and was re-elected in the 2022 general election under the ruling United Democratic Alliance(UDA) party.
Sunkuyia is the latest MP to be accused of forging academic documents.
Juja MP George Koimburi was in February charged with forging academic certificates and presenting false documents.
He was accused of forging a KCSE certificate and two certificates from JKUAT.
Koimburi pleaded not guilty to all charges before Magistrate Mwanamkuu Mwakwambirwa and was released on a Ksh 200,000 cash bail as the case proceeds.
