"If you attempt to arrest Gachagua, the entire Mt. Kenya region will rise up and send you home."

Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka has warned President William Ruto and his administration over alleged plans to arrest former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua.

Speaking on Thursday, May 29, when he hosted opposition leaders at his Tseikuru home, Kalonzo said such a move would spark fierce political backlash.

"William Ruto and his team want to arrest Rigathi Gachagua on charges of incitement. Why are you trying to go home even before the elections have taken place? If you attempt to arrest Gachagua, the entire Mt. Kenya region, including Mt. Kenya South, will rise up and send you home," he said.

Kalonzo urged Ruto to exercise restraint and uphold constitutional values.

"We will come out from all corners and drive you away. Stop the threats, just do what you're able to within the bounds of the Constitution," he added.

Notably, this comes a week after Gachagua claimed that there was a sinister plan to poison him.

Speaking during a press briefing on Monday, May 19, he detailed that he received an intelligence report that some individuals wanted to launch a chemical attack on his convoy.

He alleged that the attack would have seen him brain-dead in 3 months.

"At about 2:30 pm, we received further intelligence from the deployed patriotic officers who were not in agreement with the evil mission, that they had clear instructions to plant arms and weapons in our convoy to provide evidence to arrest us and get evidence that they could charge us with in court.

"After about 30 minutes, the killer squad was joined by their counterparts, who were highly trained in the use of biological weapons. Their instructions were to poison me through inhaled chemicals that would paralyse my brain within three months. This was the intent and the purpose of the whole operation," he said.

Further, Gachagua claimed that there was also a plan to plant arms in his convoy during the Sunday operation.

"This killer squad has been carrying out extrajudicial killings and abductions. They had clear instructions to plant arms and weapons in our convoy to provide evidence to arrest us and get evidence that they could charge us with in court," he alleged.
